Preschool FAQ | Plano Preschool

Have a question about LifePoint Preschool. These frequently asked questions may be able to help provide you with the answers you’re looking for.

Are you a licensed facility?

Yes, our facility is licensed through the State of Texas.  An annual inspection from Child Care Licensing and strict adherence to the Minimum Standards is required to maintain our license.

What qualifications do you require for your teachers?

Our teachers must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.  All employees submit to a DPS background check and FBI fingerprinting.  Teachers must have a desire to influence children in a positive manner and the ability to enhance a child’s learning through age appropriate fun activities.

What is the child/teacher ratio in the classrooms?

Our facility emphasizes safety. Therefore, we maintain a 12:2 student/teacher ratio. This allows both teachers to adequately supervise activities and work one-on-one with children throughout the day.

What school calendar do you follow?

Our preschool follows Frisco ISD school calendar.  The preschool has a Plano address but remains inside the Frisco school district boundaries.  Our calendar closely follows Frisco ISD, with the exception of the start
and end date. We begin two weeks later and end the school year two weeks earlier.

Will my child nap?

Our two year old classes do have a daily nap time in the afternoon.  All other ages participate in a 30 minute rest time.  They are required to sit on a padded, washable mat.  However, the lights are not turned off. Instead, they can look at books or do puzzles while listening to soft music. The State of Texas feels it is important for young students to have a small amount of unstructured time in their day to energize for the second half of the day.

Does my child have to be potty trained?

Yes, once a child enters our three year old program, it is required they be potty trained.  There are restrooms in each classroom for use throughout the school day.

What is chapel?

Chapel is a weekly extension of the classroom bible lessons.  Chapel is a large group activity once a week in one of our preschool theaters. The engage in praise, worship and watch a short educational video.

What is the preschool’s discipline policy?

Teachers will provide positive re-direction to a child when necessary. Students respond well to a nurturing teacher that can offer acceptable choices to the child. These teachable moments can foster a child’s decision making process, his/her self confidence and independence.

What type of extended learning opportunities are offered at your school?

All classrooms have a circle time, center time, snack time, play time, bible time, and rest time. In addition, all ages attend a weekly music class, and P.E. class. Each taught by an experienced teacher in their own
classroom. Children get to spend time out of their classroom learning through moving and singing. Three year olds and older enjoy a weekly pull-out Science class and Chapel. Pre-K and TK gather upstairs each morning for assembly, as well.

What will my child learn during center time?

Children will learn a variety of things during centers.  They will work on fine motor skills with tongs and scissors.  We provide small group instruction with math and language arts concepts. They will engage in free play and problem-solving with the blocks, housekeeping, and puzzles.  In the older classes, there might be small group reading instruction as well.
